Kirill, or Petrov Kyrylo

Hammerill is simply me, Kirill! Or, in a more official way, mr. Petrov Kyrylo.

I'm 19 years old, I live in France and come from Ukraine.

Hammerill was chosen as my nickname when I was 11 years old.

Since then it was, it is and I hope it will be my principal nickname on all of the platforms.

I want to tell you some history about it. Stay with me, I'll show you some parallax!

HISTORY OF HAMMERILL

October 29, 2016

This nickname was registered on a web platform for the first time (maybe).

I don't really remember how it came to my mind, but we can imagine that I've merged two words: "hammer"; and my own name "Kirill" into one - Hammerill.

Why hammer? I don't know.

Anyway, one day, when I was almost 12 years old, I've seen some program on the computer at the IT class. It was Scratch. I was genuinely curious about it as a kid, so when I got home, I've started learning it right away on a family computer.

Then, under the name of Hammerill, I was creating and uploading a bunch of projects in this program. You can still visit Hammerill Scratch account and view all of my work (principally in Russian, since I've grown in Russian-speaking region of Ukraine).

December 21, 2019

After three years on the Scratch site, it was time to go serious.

Now, being 15 years old, I decide to see if I could handle some actual programming languages.

In fact, I couldn't. For a moment.

But then, my first pet projects started showing up: for example, TelegramBotTranslator in C# at March 10, 2021 (we can suppose that all that time I was learning basic programming stuff).

It surely happened to all of us at least once. When the black line of life begins.

In my case, you wake up only to realize that everyone around is gone crazy. That your old life is going to be destroyed. That you might die.

Still, you have some hope for the "faraway land" where people understand what's going on and are willing to help. But you don't believe you'll get there. Nor you have any means to actually be sure it's really like that.

You believe you're already gone here, on this land, without a chance getting out alive.

History of Hammerill could just end here if I died.

But I didn't.

One day, the black line should end. Even if the reason behind it doesn't.

However, you have to continue and do whatever you've been made to do.

Luckily, I've had a chance to leave that dead land. Now, in transit to imaginary "faraway country", I have opportunity to do what I've been missing for many months.

Another public project was released under the name of Hammerill - port of the C++ reimplantation of Mario (named uMario) to PS Vita. A simple project, which however was important to me as a symbolic continuation of my work.

July 12, 2022

Finally, "faraway land" is reached.

From now on, Hammerill is about someone who was relocated from Ukraine to France and was warmly received.

Now, I've restarted my studies and continued to do my favorite work.

However, I have to concentrate on adapting myself to live in here, since the whole life I've been learning English and not French.

Happily I learned it to a good level by the beginning of 2023.

October 4, 2022

One of my the most complex projects was born - a C++ game using Box2D and SDL2 - Sand-Box2D.

I've started this project just to study these libraries, but in fact I've seen that it would be nice to make it into a real game.

I've been working on it while studying in France, which helped me to stay fresh in IT and make a decent CV.

May 22, 2023

For the first time in my life, I'm employed. As an intern, however.

But that doesn't matter as my "hobby" from the childhood turned to a real job which lets me go on and live a life.

But like that, I don't have enough time for my personal projects. It's a problem I'm thinking on right now, so I'll go beyond that and search all the time needed to let the name of Hammerill live again.

January 14, 2024

Finally, the site I've wanted to have so long ago is on my hands. Now I have to do whatever I need to make this thing a good place.

And the story will continue... You can keep up by reading a blog just under this section. If you want to open it again, click on "Blog" button at the top.

Have a good day!
